The Preventive Health & Safety Practices course includes Lead Poisoning Prevention and child nutrition.  This course fulfills 8 of EMSA’s 16-hour training requirement for licensed childcare providers in California.  The PHSP certificate does not expire.

The course is delivered via live video conference, and can be done from anywhere with a good internet connection.

Participants are required to have their video on, and be visibly engaged in the class.

What Is the EMSA Health & Safety Course?

The EMSA Health & Safety Training is a required course for licensed childcare providers in California. The training is approved by the California Emergency Medical Services Authority (EMSA) and is required for many individuals working in licensed childcare facilities, family childcare homes, and daycare centers.

This course teaches childcare providers how to respond to medical emergencies, prevent injuries, and maintain safe childcare environments.

Anyone applying for or renewing a childcare license through the California Department of Social Services Community Care Licensing Division must complete EMSA-approved training.

Who Needs EMSA Health & Safety Training?

You may be required to complete the EMSA Health & Safety course if you are:

Yes, and as it turns out, we only offer the class online, but take note – this is a live online class, and you are required to be in front of your computer camera throughout the course. But don’t worry – we take plenty of breaks.  The nice thing is that you can take it from the comfort of your home!

Do assistants and teachers need the course?

EMSA Preventative Health & Safety programs are primarily intended for directors and management.  Anybody who’s alone with children in a licensed Califorrnia childcare facility should have taken this course. This may include non-management staff.
